As children, nearly all of us daydreamed about being able to jump into our favorite cartoons. For one lucky kid, that dream has almost come true.

The Calvin and Hobbes bedroom, designed by Katri Nurmela, is the ultimate kids’ bedroom. The bed is inside of an elevated wooden fort that includes an escape slide.

The space under the bed is perfect for hiding, building little nests or inventing new games. In the bed, the fort’s large window looks out onto the huge wall mural and makes the occupant feel like the bed is way up high in the treetops.

That wall mural also includes paintings of Calvin and Hobbes lounging on a tree branch. We can imagine happily drifting off to sleep with that silly cartoon tiger and his human friend watching over the room.

Sophisticated Table Lamp Lets You Take the Light With You

Getting up in the middle of the night for a bathroom visit or a snack attack can be a dangerous undertaking. Walking around in the dark is just asking for a stubbed toe, but nightlights are hardly a fashionable home accessory. The Pod lamp is a slick substitute for those ugly plug-in illuminators.

Pod, designed by Ashleigh Stephens, consists of a central wooden pole with three small wooden branches. The pole clamps onto any surface, such as a desk or tabletop. Two small (presumably battery-powered) “pod” lights hang on the small branches with leather straps.

When you need some portable light, you can simply grab one of the small lights to take along with you. The palm-sized lights illuminate your path in the night, eliminating painful stubbed toes and letting you get back to sleep sooner.
