LG prepares a second high-end smartphone for 2015 Posted: 02 Jun 2015 09:56 AM PDT LG gets on top of the fight for the leading flagship and creates a new high end device that will come out this year. This case is akin to that of their competitor Samsung, who does similar things with their Galaxy S line and the Note. One of the executives at LG, Eason Shao, confirmed the development and release of a new, powerful gadget by them. The buzz mill indicates it might be a successor of the LG G Pro 2, and there is even some talk of featuring a stylus as its principal accesory. This device might sport a 5,9 inches screen capable of 2K resolution, and would run on 4 Gb RAM. Qualcomm might be working on the processor, but as opposed to the LG G Pro 2, this version might be available worldwide. When it comes to the rest of the features, Shao was silent, leaving us to wonder what else might be inside this top of its class smartphone. We also do not know when this device is coming out, but speculation is rampant and most outlets theorize it will be around fall. As of now, this smartphone would fit the same space as the G4 and Flex 2, both highly regarded sets that got quite some praise on the last CES in Las Vegas. On top of this, the Asian market is about to see the release of the LG G4 Stylus and the LG G4c, which is sort of a "Mini" version of the G4. LG are aiming high, and expect a better over-all performance by about 30% when compared to 2014. Will they be able to achieve this? Be social! Tempescope Replicates Tomorrow’s Weather in a Box Posted: 02 Jun 2015 05:30 AM PDT Some people are just too lazy to get out of bed and look out the window to see what the weather is like. The Tempescope is a little gadget build specifically for those people. There was a joke running a few years ago (at least where I live) about one kid telling another that it’s raining outside, and the latter asked for a link, to see for himself. Jokes aside, that might be exactly where we’re heading, since it’s getting more and more difficult to detach our eyes from the computer screen. Japanese designer Ken Kawamoto has developed a unique way of displaying the forecast, using a connected device that acts as a micro-environment. Tempescope, as this innovative gadget is called, has a limited amount of weather conditions it can replicate, but that doesn’t make it any less impressive. Kawamoto employed LEDs, water, and ultrasonics to simulate sunshine and lightning, rain, fog, and clouds. There won’t be any snow or blizzards, but these could be some great additions for the next version of Tempescope. DIY enthusiasts will find here a tutorial on how to create an open source version of the gadgets. On the other hand, if you are looking for the commercial version of the Tempescope, you will have to wait just a bit longer, as the developers will launch a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter later this year. The following video demonstrates how the weather simulator works and the specific weather conditions it can replicate. Tempescope might as well be considered a mood lamp, since it has all the necessary elements to qualify as one. The only requirement is an Internet connection, as the device needs this to gather information about tomorrow’s weather. It would be great if in the absence of an Internet connection, Tempescope displayed all of the possible weather conditions in a cycle, for a predetermined amount of time.
One of the best things about the Tempescope is that it’s not obtrusive. The small dimensions make it look great both on a desk and on a nightstand. If people decided to display this at the office, it would undoubtedly become at least a conversation starter, if not even an attention grabber that does away with any productivity people may have left. U Watch Ux Wearable Acts as a Gym Buddy Posted: 01 Jun 2015 09:30 AM PDT Knowing the heart rate zone you’re in while exercising can help you achieve your goals, and wearables such as U Watch Ux are far more convenient for this task than chest strap sensors. U Watch Ux may not have the most inspired named in the world, but what it lacks in that department, it makes up for in functionality. You won’t be able to install apps on it, but its companion app is available on both Android and iOS, thanks to the MTK2501 chipset it’s based on. The photoelectric heart rate sensor helps gym enthusiasts to figure out if they should increase the pace or just take it a bit slower. U Watch Ux includes NFC connectivity, besides the typical Bluetooth 4.0, but it’s only there for pairing the smartwatch to the phone, and not for wireless payments. Instead of enabling Bluetooth, going through the settings and finding the smartwatch, users only have to keep the two devices close to each other and they’ll get paired right away. If you don’t own a selfie stick, but would still like to make in the final picture with your friends, you can use this smartwatch’s remote camera function for triggering the shutter. The Ux comes in a durable stainless steel shell that will be offered in several different colors, along with matching or contrasting straps. Since it’s not that unusual for members of a couple to have different color preferences, it’s great to see that the manufacturer has offered a few options. It’s important for a watch to be sturdy, especially if you intend to use it at the gym, but that’s not the only aspect that makes the U Watch Ux great as a gym buddy. Its heart rate sensor will help you better assess your performance, and that definitely is an important element, if you want to progress. Correlate that with the pedometer functionality and the visual cues provided by the companion app, and you’ve got one of the most affordable wearables for active people. GearBest currently sells the U Watch Ux for $60.52, a lot less than what other manufacturers charge for their smartwatches. Even better, you can get it for $53.99 if you apply the coupon code GBUX during the checkout procedure. Be social!
