iPhone 7 Plus: What Improvements Is Apple Bringing Forth? Posted: 05 Jan 2016 10:25 AM PST One of the most awaited smartphones of the year, the iPhone 7 Plus: battery, storage, and even more raw power. Read all about it in this story! Apple’s next brainchild, the iPhone 7, is one of the most awaited mobile devices for this year. This new beast will come with many new features and updates, among them increased storage space and a high-power battery. We have been following the latest rumors about the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus for a while, and it seems they will come with many new ideas and new concepts. For starters, it might not even have a headphone jack, so it will be the thinnest iPhone yet. In its place, the iPhone 7 might feature just one USB Lightning port. When it comes to screen sizes, the normal version might feature a 4.7 inches one while the Plus would instead be around 5.5 inches – still, there are more surprises when it comes to these two smartphones. The first bit of news hints that the storage capabilities might be greatly increased. These new smartphones will come with some 256 GB of internal memory, making the iPhone the smartphone with the biggest storage unit until now. The second huge bit of new is that the new iPhone’s autonomy will be greatly increased, featuring a 3100mAh battery on the iPhone 7 Plus, which represents a 12% increase when compared to the iPhone 6 Plus, its direct predecessor.
We don’t quite know whether the new iPhones will only feature these huge storage units only on the Plus version, or if it will also be available in the smaller editions. The rumor mill claims that Apple are finally going to stop production of all 16GB models favoring bigger sizes, pretty much offering the storage capabilities of a small hard drive in the palm of our hands. When it comes to the battery, though, it would seem that Apple are still attempting to make slimmer, thinner phones which would in turn mean its autonomy would not be greatly increased and would likely stay about the same. We have no doubts that the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be one of the most talked and discussed devices of the year, when it comes to smartphones, being the Plus version the clearly superior one for offering huge storage capabilities and a somewhat increased battery life in the Cupertino company’s history, yet, is this enough to sway you over? The Samsung Galaxy S7 Will Come In Two Sizes Posted: 04 Jan 2016 01:21 PM PST It is not going to be long until we can enjoy Samsung’s next creation, the Galaxy S7, which will arrive in Q1 2015 in two variants. Read all the details in this story! Samsung are working hard but keeping us expectant about the upcoming new member of the Galaxy family, the Samsung Galaxy S7. With many rumors about its specs, capabilities and features, it seems that we can finally confirm some information about its variants, and it is likely we will only be getting two, as opposed to its predecessor, the Galaxy S6. The internet exploded in anticipation a few weeks ago when the first few rumors of the Samsung Galaxy S7 variants started popping up, and finally, thanks to a report from a South Korea media outlet, we can confirm at least two. Let us note that when it comes to the aesthetics, there won’t be any major changes when compared to the Galaxy S6, but what is under the hood is quite different, offering more horsepower thanks to its better processor and increase in RAM memory. Even though some rumors also mention a better camera with better sensors, the truth is in the end it might have less megapixels – but as any photograph enthusiast knows, this isn’t really indicative of its over-all quality.
At first, rumors claimed the Galaxy S7 would release in two version (Samsung Galaxy S7 and Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge) with the possibility of a Plus version releasing in the future, but it seems this last version will never come to fruition and the only editions will be the standard one and the curved one. The original version will feature a 5.2 inches screen, while the cruved one will have a 5.7 inches one instead, similar to what we saw in the Samsung Galaxy 7 Edge Plus. This strategy is very similar to what is happening with the last few Apple smartphones: the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, which came out in two sizes (4.7 inches and 5.5 inches respectively). This way, users know what options they have from even before its release, and can already pick the size that works best for them. Rumors indicate that Samsung is going to produce some 5 million units, at least initially, with 3.3 of them being Samsung Galaxy S7 while the remaining 1.7 are going to be Galaxy S7 Edge. This production cycle is scheduled for February of 2016, so insiders expect the new Galaxy phones to debut some time in March. It seems the new year will come with many new devices for the techies who are looking to update their smartphone experience, so all that is left is to wait and see how the Korean giant and its competitors will revolutionize the industry this time around. Brydge’s Newest iPad Pro and iPad mini 4 Keyboards Show Up at CES 2016 Posted: 04 Jan 2016 12:39 PM PST Brydge, one of the most reputable manufacturers of keyboards for Apple’s iPad tablets, has just unveiled two new products at the 2016 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Brydge keyboards excel in functionality, and they literally have the power of turning iPads into Macbooks, at least as far as productivity is concerned. The previous models have earned Brydge several awards, and the newly introduced ones only build up from there. Since both of them pack patented 180-degree hinge systems and U-shaped silicon clamping mechanisms, high-grade 100% aluminum build, backlit keys and superb haptic key feel, the two new models are meant to impress iPad Pro or mini 4 owners by being not only extremely durable, but also very good-looking. In short, BrydgePro and BrydgeMini combine sophistication with minimalistic design, to complement Apple’s iPad tablets perfectly. “The iPad Pro is a game-changing device, and as with previous iPad models, is further revolutionizing the way we work, learn and play. The BrydgePro aims to unlock the full potential of the iPad Pro and deliver the perfect blend between iPad and MacBook.” commented Nicholas Smith, CEO of Brydge. “The combination of the larger format iPad and BrydgePro has numerous applications, whether it is in the smallest classroom or the largest enterprise. Brydge is dedicated to being the market leader in innovative devices that deliver the ultimate experience in mobility and productivity when working with the iPad.” Pictured above is BrydgePro, which as its name suggests, was designed for the iPad Pro. According to the manufacturer, it has the following specs:
The BrydgeMini, on the other hand, weighs less, something you’d come to expect from an accessory for a smaller tablet, but it is slightly thicker than its bigger brother. Here are the technical specifications.
As you have probably noticed, the BrydgePro isn’t only lighter and thicker, but it also lacks the varying brightness levels of the BrydgePro. That makes sense from the price standpoint, as lesser models of a line are typically accompanied by poorer accessories, in terms of features. Brydge is taking pre-orders for both BrydgePro and BrydgeMini on its website, and the latter even benefits from a special pre-order price, as it carries a $99 price tag. Shipping will commence in January 2016 for the BrydgeMini, and in April 2016 for the BrydgePro, which has a MSRP of $189.99 If you happen to be in Las Vegas today, you can pay Brydge a visit at CES Unveiled, at table #120, to check out their newly launched products. In addition to that, you can find them at booth #36433 in the South Hall 4, between January 6 and 9. Be social! Oculus Rift: Pre-orders Will Go Up On January 6th Posted: 04 Jan 2016 12:06 PM PST The Oculus Rift, one of the most intriguing pieces of new technology is beginning it’s pre-order phase next Wednesday. Read all about it here! Just like we’ve been saying for a while now, 2016 is going to be the year of virtual reality. Starting on next Wednesday, January 6th, at 11AM ET, the famed Oculus Rift, Facebook’s very own virtual reality headset for PC platforms will begin its pre-order phase. These news first came up on a blog post where the Oculus announced the pre-orders along with a Reddit AMA session with co-founder Palmer Luckey scheduled for Wednesday at 9PM ET. What still remains a secret, though, is just how much the Rift will set you back, but their PR team have confirmed that both pricing and ship date will be made public once preorders open. We knew that the Rift (one of the most exciting virtual reality platforms on the tech landscape right now) was coming soon, and as early as Q1 of 2016, but this announcement has caught the media by surprise as it’s just after the Holiday season, traditionally the strongest season for sales. And while the Rift will be among us relatively soon, its companion device, the Oculus Touch has been delayed. The idea was to have a control scheme for it similar to what we know from the Wii or PlayStation’s move, but the Oculus Rift will instead come with a traditional Xbox One controller. Baby steps, we tell you.
Like with all new technology, we don’t know how fast or how hard virtual reality will grip us, but the early adapters are meant to be gamers and enthusiast with high-end computers capable of powering these devices. We’re talking about machines that cost at least $1.000 USD, and have the best specs in the market (yes, we know, you could get a better deal because you like to research). As these headsets are basically just screens without any real processing power (the computer or console do the graphic processing), the same will likely be the case for its competitor, HTC’s Vive headset which is coming in April. The cheaper option seems to be Sony’s upcoming PlayStation VR which will run on any PS4 (a $350 USD machine), but we will have to see how each one performs before we can claim any of these is the better option for your VR needs. Since its original announcement and successful Kickstarter campaign, the Oculus team has been growing and improving their technology through a series of prototypes, public appearances, demos and showcases, but with an impending pre-order phase now upon us, now is the time when users can finally get their hands on one while developers can start creating experiences for it. Whether you’re interested in the gaming side of VR or not, exciting stuff is happening and soon you will be able to take part. Be social!
