Underwater Homes: Suburban Habitats for Schools of Fish Posted: 12 Nov 2012 10:00 AM PST The project recalls those little like those ceramic houses built for fish tanks … but on a stunningly larger scale. But don’t let the look and feel fool you: these submerged structures were specifically designed by Jason deCaires Taylor to house a variety of species in need of places to live (and avoid predators in the process)- public housing for the fishes if you will. A secondary purpose involves raising awareness about the endangered habitats these were built to supplement – disappearing reefs that have displaced sea life. Like many human counterparts know first hand, holding onto an underwater home can hard. |
