IllumiBowl Sheds New Light on Your Toilet

Posted: 24 Feb 2016 02:04 PM PST

IllumiBowl Toilet Night Light 01

Wouldn’t it be easier if instead of turning on the light in the bathroom at night, you could just lift the lid of the toilet bowl and get plenty of light from there? IllumiBowl was designed with that precise idea in mind.

The first time I heard about IllumiBowl was back in October 2014, when its developers put it up for crowdfunding on Kickstarter (I covered that story here). The campaign proved to be a tremendous success, as backers pledged nearly 5 times the funding goal, thus pushing IllumiBowl into mass production. Since then, the product has become available at retailers, but for the next 5 days you can find it in our store at a slightly discounted price.

There’s more to the IllumiBowl than just the fact that it never leaves you in the dark. This little gadget shines light in various colors, but the thing is that you cannot set it to display a single one, in order to complement your bathroom’s theme or be in complete contrast with it.

Once you stick it to the outside of your toilet, you don’t have to worry about turning it on or off. IllumiBowl features motion sensors that trigger the light every time you’re approaching the toilet. In the same manner, the light turns off automatically when you’re leaving the bathroom. You really only have to set it and forget it.

Since this gadget attaches to your toilet, which really is one of the richest environments in microbes and bacteria, regardless of how often you clean it, you might be concerned about the steps you need to take for cleaning the IllumiBowl. This is yet another no-brainer, as all you need to do is wipe it with a cloth. You won’t have to do this that often, as the batteries that power the gadget last quite a long time.

Grown-ups are not the only ones that could benefit from lit-up toilet bowls, as the little ones could see potty training with new eyes when everything’s so colorful.

In terms of lifespan, you should expect the IllumiBowl to light up your bathroom for years. According to the manufacturer, the majority of 5mm LEDs have a life of around 100,000 hours. The only downside this gadget has is that you cannot set a certain color and leave it like that. Maybe IllumiBowl 2.0 will come with a companion app so that you can change the color using your smartphone. Anyway, the red from the above picture could really fit in a horror-themed bathroom, along with some shower curtains that bring the movie Psycho back to mind, or any good zombie flick.

The IllumiBowl toilet night light is available on Walyou Deals for $16.99, meaning that you get a 15% discount from the original price of $20. Free shipping is available for orders placed from within the continental US, and deliveries are expected to take place between March 20 and April 2.

Star Wars Reimagined as a Western

oitUgUh

Of the many alternative art reimaginings Star Wars has gone through, this Old West edition with characters based on the original ones is one of the best we’ve seen in quite some time.

Done by Sillof (Website), the custom made action figures resemble in look, name and background story the characters from the Star Wars saga, only do it with a Western twist, in a series called West Wars.

Luke S. Walker / Luke Skywalker

Some kids who lives on the outer borderlands with his aunt & uncle.

Leah Orango / Leia Organa Solo

The story on this version of Leia is she’s the daughter of a very rich ranching families, and one of the few families standing up to the sheriff (more on him later).

Hank Solomon / Han Solo

Quick on the draw, Hank is a smuggler who sells surplus arms to rebels south of the border.

Chewing Bear / Chewbacca

The companion of Hank Solomon, joining him after Hank once helped Bear’s tribe when sheriff Vardas tried to massacre them.

Sheriff Akan “Death” Vardas / Darth Vader

A deputy turned sheriff, he works for the corrupt robber barons and railroad tycoons of the territory.

Bob A. Ford / Boba Fett

Bounty hunter, Wild West style.

Old Bennett Kennelly / Obi-Wan Kenobi

A former sheriff who got usurped by his deputy (guess who) and is now in hiding.

“Rusty” Ransen D. Dalton / R2-D2

The town’s blacksmith.

Clarence Peppero / C-3PO

A talkative, slightly paranoid bartender in the local saloon.
