Slice of Paradise: Crafty Cabin Looks Like a Giant Cut Log Posted: 30 Jul 2012 10:00 AM PDT [ Filed under Prefab & in the Architecture category ] The effect manages to be cute without being kitsch, clever but still practical: a log-like loop of shingles wrapped around the core prefab home, itself (optionally) lofted adjacent to a tree, and aligned to take advantage of nature in a variety of ways. Long and narrow configurations – open along their long edges and oriented lengthwise from east to west – naturally block out glaring morning and evening light while allowing diffused north and low-in-winter south light to enter. This Eco-Perch project by Blue Forest takes that simple green strategy, a pragmatic space-saving layout, and integrates wood in fitting ways throughout, bridging the gap between traditional log cabins and modern retreat designs. "Its natural, organic geometry maximizes the relationship between the inside space and the outdoor setting, ensuring the structure sits harmoniously within the landscape. The building sleeps 4 people and is delivered, assembled and commissioned in approximately 5 days (subject to site preparation).” [ Filed under Prefab & in the Architecture category ] [ Dornob | Archives | Categories | Privacy | TOS ] |
