Nap on the Go: Folding Head Support Prevents Neck Pain

On long car trips or airplane journeys, it’s so hard to stay awake that we often find ourselves waking up from an unintended nap with a terribly sore neck. The U-shaped “travel pillows” provide little in the way of head support, resulting again in a painful neck.

nap anywhere

The Nap Anywhere is an innovative kind of head support device that alleviates the pain of on-the-go naps. When it isn’t being used, it looks a little like a Frisbee with a couple of odd cutouts. But when you feel your eyelids getting heavy, you just place the support between your shoulder and chin, then rest your head on the top portion.

Made of a flexible skeleton and a soft foam exterior, the Nap Anywhere molds to your unique shape. It provides a soft, comfortable, supportive place to lay your head (temporarily) and avoid the travel-related neckaches.

The Nap Anywhere was developed by a doctor and combines elements of architecture, engineering, and a touch of origami. When you’re finished using it, it unfolds into a small, thin disc that can be stored almost anywhere. It’s not quite as private as the Ostrich Pillow that isolates you from the world, but it will definitely alleviate the pain in the neck associated with traveling.

Simple But Elegant Solution to the Teeny-Tiny Balcony Blues

balcony table

Studying, working, or just sitting around inside can get pretty boring and stifling. Moving out onto a balcony can provide some relief, and that’s why designer Michael Hilgers created the Balcony Table. His little plastic stand hooks over the railing of a balcony to provide a handy outdoor space.

The table/desk lets you do all kinds of things outside that you would normally confine to indoors. Take your laptop out to the balcony and finish that report you’ve been working on, or use it as a table to hold your drinks while you enjoy the sunset.

The small balcony table comes with a space at the back that can be used as a planter, letting you grow lovely flowers or tasty herbs right on your portable balcony working and relaxing space.

Of course, you could always simply put a small table on your balcony to hold your desk or drinks. But the balcony table takes up no floor space at all, giving you more balcony space to stretch out and enjoy your little corner of the great outdoors.

Awesome Portal Bedroom is Decorative – For Science!

video game portal bedroom

When you get really into a video game, it can be hard to think about anything else. This is apparent in the bedroom created by Lauren Jennings. She really loves the Portal games and had a whole empty apartment to decorate, so she decided to go for it and make her bedroom into a rad Portal-themed sanctuary.

Lauren was inspired by an infinity mirror she saw: the mirror gave the illusion of lights receding into the mirror forever. The illusion was enough to make her think of creating a Portal-themed room.

Fans of the games will recognize plenty of elements from both. Lauren tried to strike a balance between the stark white aesthetic of the first game and the grungier look of the second. The room features both blue and orange infinity mirrors, which are definitely the highlight of the room.

The room also features a few Portal “warning” signs and some wall art that ties in perfectly with the theme. Two Portal guns and other game-themed accessories adorn the room, making it one of the most fantastic and thorough bedroom re-decorating projects we’ve seen.
