Chinese Lamborghini Is 99% Identical to the Original, Costs Just $65,000 Posted: 27 Jun 2012 05:51 AM PDT A brand new Lamborghini Murcielago LP64 would cost you over $400,000, but in China you can buy one that looks almost identical for only $65,000. The Chinese love to build their own Lamborghini sport cars, probably because the original ones sold in China tend to break down a lot. The latest Lamborghini replica to come out of the rising Asian country is of the stunning Murcielago LP64, and is probably the best one yet. Refered to as the Shanzai Lamborghini, this impressive looking vehicle is said to be 99% identical to the original on the outside, while the interior is “only” 70% identical. Still, the price tag of 420,000 yuan ($65,000) is unbeatable for this kind of car. Only you’re not really buying a piece of Italian engineering, but a really well modified Toyota MR2. The level of craftsmanship has really impressed car enthusiasts in China, ever since photos of the Shanzai Lamborghini made their appearance online. The car maker apparently has his own workshop and even posted a classified advertisement for his Lamborghini making service. The reservation period for a Chinese Lamborghini Murcielago LP64 replica is 5 months, and requires an initial deposit of 210,000 yuan. Pretty harsh conditions for a car that can never be registered and driven on official roads. But you can use it to brag to your friends. The translated ad and specifications for the Shanzai Lamborghini are listed below.

Awesome Mosaic Is Made of Over 1 Million Coffee Beans Posted: 27 Jun 2012 04:21 AM PDT Measuring nearly 30 square meters, The Awakening mosaic recently unveiled in Gorky Park, Moscow, set a new world record for the largest coffee bean mosaic. It’s not very often that you get to see artworks as impressive as the one created by Russian artist Arkadi Kim. He and his team spent around two weeks working on the impressive mosaic, weighing the coffee beans, roasting them to achieve the desired color tones and placing them at just the right spot on the giant panel set up in Gorky Park. Believe it or not, this unique piece of art is made of 1 million coffee beans, weighing an impressive 180 kg (397 pounds). Entitled “The Awakening”, it shows the detailed visage of a girl and alluring coffee aroma making its way to her nose. Photo: Itar-Tass Arkadi Kim’s coffee bean mosaic was acknowledged by Russia’s Book of Records, beating the previous title holder by about 5 square meters. It was created in December 2011, in Armenia, and weighed “only” 140 kilograms. The artist behind the former largest coffee bean mosaic was non other than world-renown artist Saimir Strati. Photo: Mikhail Metzel / AP The beautiful coffee bean artwork will remain in Gorky park until July 1st, when it will be dismantled and the beans sold to a processing plant. To create a proper atmosphere, local authorities have also set up a cozy cafe and coffee tasting area for visitors. Sleazy Avatar-Themed Nightclub Opens in South Africa Posted: 27 Jun 2012 03:27 AM PDT Somehow I thought Avatar-themed nightclubs would be kind of cool, but recently opened Avastar (I know, right?) proves they can be sleazier than you ever imagined. Judging by the success of James Cameron’s Avatar movie, it was only a matter of time before someone used his fantasy world as nightclub theme. Only I think anyone could have done a much better job of it than Mike Basson, a South African entrepreneur who looks like one of the gangster Guy Richie uses in his movies. He came up with the “brilliant” name “Avastar” for his new nightclub in Rivonia, South Africa’s version of Las Vegas, slapped cheesy artworks of nude Na’Vi women on the walls, and described his idea as a mind-blowing combination of nature and technology. It’s also got some fancy chandeliers supposed to look like the Tree of Life and some fire-spitting volcanoes, fog machines and lasers, LEDs, pretty everything an Avatar fan dreams of finding in a nightclub themed after their favorite movie. Photo: Avastar Nightclub According to mobster-lookalike Basson, everyone is welcome at Avastar, but guys shouldn’t hit on the ladies unless they do it with an Avastar cocktail. Otherwise the bouncers will probably punch you in the face until you get that nice Na’Vi flat nose, just like in the movie. Photo: Avastar Nightclub Avastar opened on June 1st, and guess who hosted the party? No, it wasn’t James Cameron, in fact, judging by the sleazy design, he had nothing to do with this place. It was the one and only, David Hasselhoff. You keep your megalomaniac film director, the Hoff is way cooler!
I know, it’s sleazier than you imagined, but it gets even worse. Avastar is the world’s only place where you can admire a topless Na’Vi Marilyn Monroe in some kitschy artworks you normally see airbrushed on the hood of 90′s cars.
