Star Wars X-Wing And Tie Fighter Rings: Engaged To The Cause

It doesn’t matter if you support the Empire or the Rebels, there’s a war for the galaxy out there and you can pick your side and show your allegiance by wearing these rings.

Ring Crafter Paul Michael of Paul Michael Design has outdone himself once again by creating this incredible pair themed after the most recognizable ships in the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, the Tie Fighter and X-Wing respectively. By wearing this you can express the ultimate commitment and love for either of the sides, but it’d get tricky if your couple wants one of the opposite faction instead. “How can you support the Empire, honey? This marriage isn’t gonna happen after all!”

Renaissance Era Paintings Inspired By Classic Video Games

From artist Dan Hernandez come a gallery of paintings that blend iconic games and iconic art.

Coming soon to the Kim Foster Gallery in New York City are the works of artist Dan Hernandez, whose latest pieces bring together the unthinkable duo of classic video games and Italian Renaissance-styled portraits into individual masterpieces.

In his second solo exhibition, entitled “Genesis,” Dan chose some of his favorite games of his childhood and portrayed them in a style that is more fitting a cathedral in Rome, being worshiped by the holiest of monks, than in a downtown gallery in the Big Apple being gawked by a bunch of nerds (uh, no offense, guys and gals.)

They are really something else; each canvas is sprawling with 15th & 16th century hallmarks, the kind of artistic flourishes that the greats of the era used, and brilliantly mixed with the gaming likes of Space Invaders, Missile Command, and even that pesky plumber himself, Super Mario. It's video games as art, and it's flippin' wild.

You can see the rest of Dan's work over at the Kim Foster Gallery website, or you can make a pilgrimage to New York City from now until April 26 to see them in person.

Real, Working Spider-Man Web Shooter: Go Out And Defend New York, Now!

Posted: 21 Apr 2014 05:00 AM PDT

Inhabitants of New York, be glad! Now there’s an actual, real possibility of getting an army of Spider-men to defend your city, just like in the comics!

While Peter Parker does have actual super-powers, there’s something endearing about the fact that he created his own main weapons, the web-shooters he uses to fight crime. And if a mere teenager (a genius one, but we digress) could figure out how to create these, and traverse the city in them, it’s only a surprise it’s taken us almost 50 years to figure it out, too. Ok, fine, the traversing the city bit might be a stretch, but here is a start.  This is a creation by Patrick Priebe that isn’t exactly sticky, but more like a miniature harpoon gun themed after the web-slinger. See it working in the videos below!

Keep going for another video!
