Optical Illusion of The Day: Faces in the Snow Optical Illusion |
Faces in the Snow Optical Illusion Posted: 19 Dec 2015 10:35 AM PST Know how I’ve been squeakin’ about no snow here lately? Well, the “dry spell” is finally over! We got a few inches dumped on us overnight last night. The whole world looks crisp, clean, and white right now. At least for a little while. It’s supposed to warm up again and we’re supposed to lose all the snow and have a warm and balmy 50 degree (F) Christmas. Funky weather we’re having these days here. In honor of our first true snowfall, I thought a snow optical illusion was in order today. I’ve seen these faces in the snow optical illusion images before, and I didn’t quite understand them. When you press your face into the snow, your face leaves in impression. But, when you look at a faces in the snow optical illusion, it looks like the faces are popping up out of the snow. It’s crazy, I tell you! See for yourself… I’m not entirely sure why or how a faces in the snow optical illusion works, but it does. I think it may have something to do with the shadows and whiteness of the snow. Also, our brains are so used to seeing faces in their positive forms, that it’s hard to recognize faces in their negative forms. I wonder, though… If a person works with masks on a daily basis, would they recognize these faces pressed into the snow for what they really are? Impressions? Let’s hear your thoughts! If you liked this faces in the snow optical illusion, you won’t want to miss this hollow Charlie Chaplin face illusion! The post Faces in the Snow Optical Illusion appeared first on Mighty Optical Illusions. |
