Out of ruins can rise something new and compelling, and that is exactly how the E/C House on the Azores island of Pico came to be. SAMI Architects were called in to transform the stony ruins of a very old home into this modern masterpiece of  a vacation home that blends old and new. When an architect needs new digs, you know the end result is going to be pretty spectacular. Australian architect Max Pritchard needed a studio at his home, but he didn't want to modify the heritage listed elevated steel and glass house. Instead, Pritchard designed and built the Tree Top Studio, a two-level circular tower that overlooks the surrounding treetops. Read more…
