Just peachy? Robot feeds you tomatoes while you train

Posted: 25 Feb 2015 10:36 AM PST

Pêtit tomatan 1

We are pretty happy with wearables becoming mainstream, but this goes beyond any stantard: this humanoid robot is Petit-Tomatan and it will sit on your shoulders and feed you tomatoes while you train.

You don’t have to be Michael Phelps to know that the key to get into shape is the proper balance between physical exercise and a proper diet, yet combining the two can sometimes be complicated. That is why Japanese company Kagome (specialized in selling juice) made a very special wearable, a humanoid robot that sits on top of a person and feeds them tomatoes while they train – and yes, you read that right.

The design came from the mind of the designers and artists at Maywa Denki, and its name is Petit-Tomatan. This was created as an advertising piece, and is not an actual product that will be up for sale, no matter how funny it is. The robot was used in last weekend’s Tokyo Marathon , and it’s not only hilarious but also perfectly functional with its timers regulating the tomato per minute rate. Would you wear one of these in your next training session?

Star Wars Pancakes Make for a Yummy & Geeky Breakfast

Vader Cake

What is one to do when he tries to combine his fetish for great breakfasts and his love for Star Wars? Why, make Star Wars pancakes of course.

One might call Nathan Shields the best pop culture pancake artist in the world. The way he does it? It actually seems quite easy, although from personal experience, it requires more than just the ingredients and a frying pan. It requires talent, something I don’t have.

Darth Vader Pancake

Yoda

Stormtrooper

Boba Fett

If you’re planning on checking out some more wonderful pancake art, then go to Shield’s website, where you’ll find a horde of wonderful creations that are probably delicious as well.

As for those staying with us, there is plenty more Star Wars & food to enjoy: Another version of pancakes worth checking out or these vintage Star Wars snacks lost in time.

PlayStation Mod Turns Console Into Final Fantasy VII Tribute

PlayStation Final Fantasy VII Console by MakoMod image 1

Spanish modder MakoMod is taking us back to the industrial city of Midgar with his console ode to Final Fantasy VII.

The seminal Square-Enix role-playing game appeared on the PlayStation in 1997, so it would only make sense for MakoMod to transform the Sony gaming machine into an incredible miniature of the game's central setting.

Everything is gosh darn spot-on here. Heck, even a downer like Cloud would crack a smile at Mako’s work. The mini-FFVII Midgar has glowing lights that recreate the look of the town in-game, and you can even identify specific in-game locals like Aerith's church and the train station, which was the opening scene to Final Fantasy VII.

Over at MakoMod's blog and Facebook page, you can check out more pictures of their PSone Final Fantasy VII console, some that even detail its entire assembly. Really shows how much great work went into this special mod. You can also find the other impressive console mods Mako has worked on in the past at his blog, too. Totally recommended.
