Back to The Future 2015 Round UP! Posted: 20 Oct 2015 02:20 PM PDT October 21, 2015. A big date in cinematic history. It’s the date of Marty McFly and Doc Emmett Brown (along with Jennifer) arriving in the future and getting mixed up in an unfortunate chain of events that are Back to the Future II and III. Robert Zemeckis, the director of the three films has said that he’ll never approve of a remake as long as he lives which is good. Some things should be left as they are, forever. Despite it being over 25 years since the last movie came out we’re still fascinated with this awesome time travelling trilogy, and as you can see, we’ve deal with it quite a lot in the past. Here are our best posts, articles and stories about the films and everything that surrounds them. Liutaly iV Electric Violin Relies on Smartphones for Digital Effects Posted: 20 Oct 2015 12:53 PM PDT Besides including its own amplified speaker system, the Liutaly iV electric violin also features a dock for smartphones running music creations apps. While I don’t think the classical sound of violins should be messed with, some modern musicians have an inexplicable attraction for distorted sounds, and digital effects, in general. Claudio Capponi, the inventor of the Liutaly iV, has been developing this electric violin over the past two years, and the result is rather impressive. “Liutaly believes that future bowed instruments will inevitably be supported by technology,” explained Capponi. “We are producing them now, without modifying the violinistic technique, the expressiveness, the vibrato, the portability, without annoying wires and heavy amplifiers.” In terms of design, Liutaly iV still looks like its conventional counterpart, meaning that musicians who are familiar with the traditional instrument should have no problem playing this one. The aluminum tailpiece, maple neck and ebony nut can be replaced to accommodate either four or five strings. More than that, the sturdy carbon fiber body can be equipped with traditional pegs and bridges, in case the violin players don’t like the ones Liutaly iV comes with. Liutaly iV was built using a patent-pending technology called Self-Amplified, Self Powered Electric Bowed String Instruments (SASPEBSI). Basically, there are two 15W speakers embedded in the front of the chin rest, along with a two channel Class-D power amplifier. According to its maker, Liutaly iV is capable of outputting twice the volume of conventional acoustic violins. In case the included speakers and/or amplifier don’t suffice, musicians have the option of using headphones or even external amplifiers and speakers. As for the power, this electric violin relies on a 7.4V/1,800mAh Li-Po battery, but can run perfectly fine using anything from 500mAh to 5,000mAh. External power sources are also acceptable, so carrying a power bank with you while playing at a concert may not be that bad of an idea. The good news for lovers of traditional violins that are looking for a modern take on their favorite musical instrument is that Liutaly iV can also play in analog (but amplified) mode, besides electric, synth, and electronic. It’s up to the player if he selects the mode independently, or if he prefers the violin to mix and match. As mentioned before, one of the things that definitely sets Liutaly iV apart from other electric violins is the way it works with smartphones. While there isn’t a proprietary companion app, yet, the violin works just fine with existing apps such as Aplitube, ThumbJam, Loopy, and Animoog. The tests mostly involved the iOS version of these apps, but the instrument is compatible with Android smartphones, too.
Orders can be placed on the manufacturer’s website, but delivery times depend a lot on the customization options. Liutaly iV is anything but cheap, ranging between €5,000 and €7,000 (approximately US$5,600 – $8,000), but that’s usually the norm with devices that brings something new to the table. Be social! 11 Back to The Future Toys You Want! Posted: 20 Oct 2015 12:42 PM PDT If you’re a Back to the Future fan, you must be excited about October 21, 2015 coming up. It’s the date Doc and Marty arrive in the future, setting up the chain of events that alter the past and eventually sent both of them to 1885. It’s a day of celebration and depression because we don’t have flying car, but it’s also an excellent excuse to gear up on some extremely cool Back to the Future toys and gadgets, to make you feel more comfortable with the special day. Flux Capacitor USB Car ChargerThis thing won’t send you into the future or the past like it did in the movies, unless you have Plutonium, and even then, probably not. But it will charge two devices at once, while making you feel like you’re driving the DeLorean for a little bit. Get it for $24.99 Back to the Future Flux Capacitor WristwatchSome people can’t have enough of three lines with lights going through them. If not in your car, then how about your hand? It tells the time using the Flux Capacitor lights and the date with with atime circuit LCD, making you feel like you’re looking at the DeLorean time-travel panel. Get it for $49.99 Back to the Future Lights and Sound Mark II DeLoreanA replica that’s 1/15 of the actual DeLorean time machine that comes with lights, sound effects, and fully-detailed moving parts. While it won’t get you to a different time and you won’t be able to hit 88 mph with it, just moving it around listening to the sound effects (or doing them on your own) is quite satisfying. Get it for $59.99 Back To The Future Desktop HoverboardsThe world of science still hasn’t given us the hoverboards that were promised in the film, along with a lot of other stuff. However, having this minituare hoverboard, sliding on its track thanks to magnets makes for an excellent toy or desk accessory for people who don’t want their office looking too serious. Get it for $39.99
Vinyl Idolz: Back to the FutureMarty looks a bit stunned and Doc’s eyes are all over the place like his character from ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit’, but these vinyl Idolz are great to put on a stand to geek-out your room or living room, and probably engage in some games with your kids or friends (if you’re still into that kind of thing) by dubbing them with appropriate impersonations. Get it for $19.99 Back to the Future Pop Rides – Delorean w/MartyGrowing up, Marty McFly was who I wanted to be. So having this Funko POP! version of Marty joy-riding in the DeLorean pretty much sums up how I wished I’d be growing up. I’m not sure how good it would be to have your head stick out like that while doing the time travelling thing. We need to ask Robert Zemeckis. Get it for $24.99 Back to the Future Part II – 1:24 Delorean Scale Model KitPutting together a time machine in 2015? Still impossible. But putting together a scale model of the BTTF II DeLorean? Completely possible and tempting, especially for those who love to build stuff, and it doesn’t even have to come with Libyan help. This also includes the hover conversion and Mr. Fusion. Get it for $39.99 Back to the Future III DeLoreanThings sure were dusty in the old West. And the DeLorean in 1885 looks like something the army would use during a ‘Desert Storm’ operation, replacing the metallic look with a sand-golden kind of appearance and includes all the awesome sounds from the film. Get it for $59.99 Back to the Future Mr. Fusion ReplicaA must for any kitchen (although it doesn’t do anything but the sound from the movie, which is good enough), this perfect replica of the Mr. Fusion gadget Doc Brown introduces to us in the film and wows Marty with his future know-how will make you feel a little bit cooler and closer to your home giving out the perfect Back to the Future vibe. Get it for $399.99 Back To The Future 1, 2, 3 Trilogy Set Delorean Time MachineSome toys are great because they’re simple. While adults usually tend to shy away from these or simply buy/pass it on to their children, people who are huge fans of something are never too old to have or even play with something like this, and the complete set of the DeLorean time machines is something that will always be fun to look at, toy around with and pass it down to those in need of some cinematic education. Get it for $49.72
LEGO 21103 The DeLorean Time Machine Building SetWho doesn’t love Lego? And a Back to the Future Lego? Which means tiny Doc and Marty? With a DeLorean you can build and then put them in? And for you to then drive around and make noises as you imagine them hitting the desired speed and going to a time and place where they don’t mess up the timeline? Sounds good, almost too good, but the actual characters and car-building thing exists, luckily. Get it for $102.95

Posted: 20 Oct 2015 12:24 PM PDT The entire world loves Galaga, the (slightly) mode modern take on the Space Invaders formula. This is how you can play the game today, in devices from this generation.
Galaga is one of the greatest classics of all time, a fast-paced action shooter where players control a ship and have to fight off hordes of enemies with unpredictable patterns and bug-like aesthetics. This game was originally created by Namco in 1981 for arcade machines as a sequel to 1979’s Galaxian. Galaga innovated on the Space Invaders formula by having more enemies moving at the same time, in more complex patters, and having brighter, better graphics that made the game absolutely beautiful for its time. Since its original release, it has shown up in many other platforms, and can be played on almost any machine imaginable. Ever since 2012’s Avengers movie, where Tony Stark comments on a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent in the background playing the game in one of the movie’s funniest scenes, the game has had sort of a revived interest in it. If you need to have this game back in your life, here’s some alternatives for you. Play the classic version on NESYou can always undust your old NES and play what many of us consider the ultimate version of the game – it is just as good as you remember and, in our eyes, nothing beats the 8-bit original. Play Galaga on Nintendo 3DSIf for whatever reason you don’t have an old NES around, or would rather play video games on the go, Nintendo and Namco have you covered. Pac-man & Galaga Dimensions is a fantastic update to both Galaga and Pac-Man, taking full advantage of the hardware innovations of Nintendo’s latest handheld. Players can enjoy these two classics in 3D, with revamped graphics and sound, and controlling the action with either touch controls, motion controls, or the regular controls so the experience can be as tight or light as the moment requires. It’s a very, very cool edition and we can’t help but recommend it for all gamers. Play Galaga on your smartphoneAs recently as this year, Namco has been steadily releasing versions and reversions and different ports of Galaga. We want to recommend Galaga: TEKKEN Edition for Android and iOS for smartphone users, which is also a crossover with the popular fighting video game TEKKEN. For those that would rather have a more vanilla experience, though, Namco has released the regular version in many services including a very fun, free version with ads you can get for most devices. If none of this work for you, keep in mind this game has just so many clones, there has to be one somewhere out there for you – it’s just a matter of researching. Again, we recommend the TEKKEN Edition because it looks awesome and is incredibly cute. Be social!
