Tekken-7

Tekken 7, one of the most awaited fighting games in recent history is still being tested out in Japan, but news keep pouring. These are the ones any fan of the series should know about, as to get ready for its eventual arrival in the west.

The latest Tekken game, Tekken 7 (overall the ninth game of the Tekken series) is one of the most awaited games in recent history, and has the fighting game community in an uproar with excitement while they await for Bandai Namco (Pac-man, Galaga, the “Tales” series of RPGs, and many anime related video games such as Dragon Ball, One Piece and Saint Seiya) to finish the development process. Bandai Namco have already released a few limited runs showcasing the game in beta state in Japan, where gamers could get a first glimpse of what the full game would look like, and this has only furthered the madness. So here’s the full scoop of what we know so far!

The confirmed Tekken 7 characters so far

Tekken’s trademark is its diverse, strange cast with several characters that have the craziest outfits, looks, and over-the-top personalities. So far, the ones we know will be in the complete game are:

  • Alisa
  • Asuka
  • Bryan
  • Claudioa
  • Devil Jin
  • Dragunov
  • Feng
  • Gigasa
  • Heihachi (Stage 4 Sub Boss)
  • Hwoarang
  • Jack-7
  • Jinb (Secret Stage 4 Sub Boss)
  • Josie
  • Katarina
  • Kazumi/Devil Kazumi (Final Boss)
  • Kazuya/Devil
  • King
  • Lars
  • Law
  • Leo
  • Lili
  • Lucky Chloe
  • Paul
  • Shaheena
  • Steve
  • Xiaoyu
  • Yoshimitsu.

Namco Bandai’s Katsuhiro Harada, the producer of the game, has been quoted before saying that this game will feature “the largest roster in the entire series”, but the previous title, Tekken 6, already features some 48 fighters so this is definitely not a comprehensive list. Other unconfirmed but rumored characters include Eliza, Jun Kazama and Nina Williams, who has been in all Tekken games to this date and it would be really weird if she wasn’t in this one. The rest are anyone’s guess.

The official release of Tekken 7

Tekken 7 can be played right now as an arcade game in select locations in Japan, in an unfinished beta state. Bandai Namco haven’t released a timeline nor clarified whether the game is coming to home consoles (although it would be preposterous if it didn’t come for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at least). Rumors have been popping around, claiming the game might gets its full release for the latter part of 2016, or early 2017, so as of now everything is unconfirmed, and we still have to wait. What we can confirm, thought, is that Bandai Namco are hard at work in the game, and that there is a sponsored tournament called The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015, which will take place in November-December 2015 in Japan, and players around the world will compete for over ¥10,000,000 (~$81,000 USD) in prices, so you can be sure they’re serious about this. Three qualifiers are to be held this fall in Japan, and two will come from the EVO 2015 event in the USA.
