Assassin’s Creed 5: Unity Has a Sneak Peak Video

Posted: 25 Mar 2014 07:00 AM PDT

Assassin's Creed V

There’s still no official date for the release of Assassin’s Creed 5: Unity, but Ubisoft have finally released some in-game video, a sneak peek if you will, from a video game they’ve been working on for the past three years.

Unity is supposed to come out in late 2014 (Q4 probably), released on the PS4, Xbox one and Windows. It will be set during the French Revolution, and feature an assassin named Arno.

The official Assassin’s Creed Twitter account confirmed that the video is gameplay and not cut scenes. It is the first to be exclusively developed for the Next Gen consoles.

There is another Assassin’s Creed game is rumored to be in development (Comet?), which might be either a mobile title or a game for last generation consoles, which means a possibility of two AC games for the PC in one year.

Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, which came out just under six months ago was considered to be as a return to form for the franchise, mostly thanks to the excellent naval combat and rich, fascinating open world to explore. We already see the graphics on Unity are going to be something spectacular, but it’s going to take more than that to make the game a success both in the “box office” and with critics.

Xbox One Getting A Pricecut: The Console Of The People?

In an attempt to cash in the momentum brought by the mega-hit Titanfall, Microsoft have slashed the Xbox One price to almost cheaper than the PS4, all things considered.

It turns out that the price cut the Titanfall Xbox One bundle received accross the pond in the UK was not an isolated thing, and some American retailers are ready to follow suit putting the console and game at $449.99. If you factor in the price of the game itself ($60 USD), this is is basically ten dollars cheaper than the PS4, which you’d need to get a game for anyways. This price cut doesn’t come from Microsoft, who suggested the retail price remain the same, but from major retailers, namely Best Buy and Walmart,

Still, the console wars is still on and hotter than ever, and we’re still to see if Sony replies to this somehow. The month is already looking great with the multi-platform release of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes and the PS4 exclusive Infamous: Second Son.

Samsung Brings the Features of Galaxy S5 to Other Smartphones via an App

Samsung Galaxy S5 UI App

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Experience app is supposed to show people what they are missing by not buying the South Korean company’s latest flagship smartphone.

There will always be skeptics when a new product is launched, especially in the ever-changing world of mobile devices. In terms of hardware, there are changes from year to year, some more dramatic than others, but what most people are concerned about when a new flagship smartphone gets released is the software. This is the aspect that makes the difference between one manufacturer and another, and as proof of that stand the proprietary apps that get ported to other versions of Android and even to the devices of other manufacturers.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Experience is a smartphone app with a very self-explanatory name that leaves very little to be guessed. Basically, after installing this app on an Android smartphone, you can pretend that you use an SGS5, the only things that will remind you that you don’t being the smaller display with a smaller resolution and a smaller pixel density, the slower CPU and GPU, the lower amount of RAM, the lack of a heartbeat sensor and fingerprint security, and so on. You get it, you can only play with the UI of the Galaxy S5 and with some of the proprietary features that make this smartphone that special.

In a few words, what Samsung is doing with this app is a great marketing campaign. The company manages to provide an illusion that will furthermore lure new customers in, provided that they have the money necessary for buying the S5. However, Samsung would most probably be happy even if a small percentage of the users of Galaxy S5 Experience become Galaxy S5 owners.

Among the Samsung apps that can be tested within the Galaxy S5 Experience app, one that’s meant to spark a lot of interest is Ultra Power Save Mode. According to the manufacturer, this app is capable of tripling the battery life of S5 over S4. While by simply running the Experience app people won’t be able to see the effects, they’ll learn what the app looks like and what parameters it modifies in order to achieve that performance.

Anyone wanting to experience how the Galaxy S5 looks like should head over to Google Play Store and download the app for free.
