The human brain is a wonderful and amazing thing. It processes copious amounts of information in seconds, and it helps make sense of the world around us. When the brain sees something that it doesn’t understand, it works hard to fill in the gaps to make sense of it. This sphere optical illusion is a perfect example of that…
You probably see a sphere in the picture above, right? Look a little harder, though, and you can see that there really is no sphere. This sphere optical illusion is nothing more than a series of carefully shaped and placed triangles. They’re arranged in such a way that it looks like there’s a sphere, or ball in the middle, because out brain likes order and familiarity and it has a hard time processing a group of random triangles. The sphere is a more familiar shape, which is why most of us will see that instead.
