Few architectural creations short of the Eiffel Tower are so emblematic of the city of Paris as the glass pyramid that sits in front of the historic Louvre Museum and serves as its main entrance. The ultramodern structure, criss-crossed with geometric lines, stands in sharp contrast to the Palais du Louvre, a former royal palace that once served as a medieval fortress and became a public museum in 1793. Award-winning designer duo Muller Van Severen have been creating inspired domestic artifacts since 2011. Modern art photographer Fien Muller and artist/designer Hannes Van Severen produce furniture that is sculptural, spare and playful. Their WireS# range (pictured above and below) featured in the 25th Biennale Interieur Kortrijk at Valerie Traan in Belgium in 2016. The hashtag at the end of its name references the grid-like structure of the inox wire netting from which the furniture is made. Read more…
